Stowage CompartmentsOverhead bins, ceiling, coat, safety / emergency-equipment compartments, and magazine / newspaper racks. Check that no prohibited articles are hidden among placed equipment, pillows, blankets, etc.
Cabin-crew seat compartments, crew-rest areas, and crew storage areas.
Safety & Emergency EquipmentEnsure no prohibited articles have been substituted for any safety or emergency equipment.
Passenger SeatSeat, seat pockets, under the seats, between seats, and between seats and walls.
Life VestRandomly select 5–10% of life-vest pouches: remove the vest, check inside for sharp objects / suspicious items, secure back into pouch.
LavatoriesRacks, drawers, compartments, waste containers, storage areas, and behind mirrors (if applicable).
GalleysCompartments, storage areas, chillers, beverage / meal carts, ovens, and waste containers.
If a cart or container is unsealed or the seal is tampered with, advise PIC immediately.

Tips · Effective Security Check

Prepare MentallyReview checklists and area of responsibility for your scheduled aircraft. Search for any hidden sabotage / threats. Mental readiness is key.
Use Adequate LightingUse a flashlight, especially in dark areas or compartments.
Systematic ApproachConsistent search pattern, clear sequence (top → bottom, right → left). Confirm completion to FAIC immediately.
Check ThoroughlyInclude under seats, around cushions, inside seat pockets, tray-table stowage, and all compartments. Check between seat and walls. Lift the footrest to check under the seat. Open the compartment to check the life vest in First / Business.
Stay VigilantConfirm all ground staff have left the aircraft. Avoid distractions, conduct every search with intent rather than assumption, report anything unusual.
